Alpha 3 is out now!


After getting some much needed feedback I'm back with Alpha 3 of Blacktrace. Here are some of the major changes.

I've added a blood blob shader that turns into a blood splatter decal when it collides with objects.


X-ray vision was added to the flashlight so that it's actually useful to the player.


Made hit reactions look more impressive on ragdolls with both bullet hits and explosions.


Other changes:

  • Moved to Godot 3.4.2.
  • Added right or left shoulder aim option by pressing C.
  • You can reset your progress now by using the option in the settings.
  • Glass does no longer stop bullets, so you can shoot enemies through windows.
  • Jumping or moving away from the wall makes the character go out of cover.
  • Allow reload when a magazine isn't completely empty.
  • Reordered the weapon unlock to it's more gradual in difficulty.
  • Fixed spolling mistakes.
  • Added idle animation for when characters are in cover.
  • Changed ammo count of some weapons to make more balanced and push player to pickup weapons.
  • Made lock picking easier and added a visual hint to show which pins are at the correct height.
  • Reticle changes color to grey when the aim is obstructed and the bullet won't hit where the player is aiming.
  • The camera zoom level and camera first or third person mode is saved to config file.
  • Dart launcher uses a laser like trigger instead of the tripwire.
  • And a whole lot of bug fixes.
